About Group Hug Apparel

Group Hug Apparel began with Andrew Banar’s love of drawing and music, and an idea shared with his mom, Karen. Andrew wanted to raise money for college. Karen saw the potential in his rock and roll artwork, and the family began printing his drawings on shirts.

Be Strong Rock On

Those four words connect the artwork with a message of courage and friendship. The original website tells how Andrew, who was born with Down syndrome, shared that message through apparel, community activities, and gifts for children spending time in hospital.

Creativity and inclusion

Andrew’s story brings together music, learning, volunteering, and meeting people. His drawings became a way to start conversations, celebrate individuality, and help others feel included.
